The Eclipse That Kicks The Hornets Nest Pt. 2: America’s Next Natural Disaster

Eclipses are known for their disruptions in the lives of individuals and of countries and their leaders. This second in my series on The Great American Eclipse will consider the possibility of a natural disaster unfolding on American soil in August.

The Great American Eclipse of August 21st, 2017 will have its shadow fall from coast to coast for the first time since 1918. It also impacts the birth chart aka the “Sibley” chart of the United States, hits the birth chart of our sitting President Donald Trump as well as many other people in higher office. The countries that have the eclipse shadow fall across them often take the brunt of the eclipse impact.

As mentioned in my previous post that looked at the Saros 145 series of eclipses that the Great American Eclipse is part of, the last Saros 145 eclipse of August 11th, 1999 had its eclipse shadow fall across parts of Turkey, where a magnitude 7.6 earthquake killed over 17,000 people on August 17th, 1999. That eclipse was at 18 degrees Leo, conjunct natal Neptune at 20 degrees Leo in the chart for Turkey.

The August 21st eclipse will be at 28 degrees Leo. Typically, eclipses are judged based on the nature of the sign they’re in, Leo being hot, fiery, dry. Per Deborah Houlding:

Eclipses in Leo portend death or misfortune for royalty, nobility and ‘persons of quality’; the ruination and destruction of ancient buildings, palaces and churches; division amongst the clergy, the besieging of towns, and a scarcity of horses and grain.

The definite misfortune and possible death of American “nobility” will be discussed in another article in this series.

Given the nature of Leo and the path the shadow of this eclipse takes across America, my concern would be earthquakes in the short term and drought conditions in the medium term. Look at how much of America’s heartland will see the shadow of the eclipse:

Whatever natural disaster may unfold in August and September out of the eclipse, I do have to warn that travel for Americans can be particularly dangerous during this eclipse season. The Great American Eclipse will be in the Sibley chart’s 9th house, opposing the 3rd house Moon in Aquarius. The 3rd house is the house of short distance travel, the 9th is the house of long distance travel. My fear is that either as a result of natural disaster or just a result of the eclipse itself, some major travel-related accidents will be unfolding as well.

All in all, my expectations of the Great American Eclipse are major foundational changes in American politics, but the effect it will have on the natural world shouldn’t be ignored and safety in travel should be at the forefront of every person in America – whether citizen or visitor – in August and September.

  1. The path of the eclipse comes quite close to:

    – Mount Hood (volcano in Oregon)
    – The Yellowstone caldera
    – The New Madrid fault.

The business about buildings falling down is worrisome. Any of these targets could wreck a lot of buildings. Also note that the eclipse is quite close to Regulus at 29 Leo. I would say this bodes ill for the ruler of the country.

    1. Agree, not good for political leaders. That’s for the next in the series. Thanks for pointing out the proximity to major fault lines etc. It’s also somewhat close enough to Kansas and Oklahoma that I wonder if a new round of fracking-related earthquakes will start up again. Yellowstone is not cool though :/
